School receiving grant funds2009-10 School Year. WisItalia, in conjunction with the Consul General and the Italian government, is able to give certain Wisconsin schools/programs that teach the Italian language, grant funds for their language programs. These funds can be used to purchase materials, to augment salaries, or for legitimate activities that furthers the study of the Italian language.

Reception for Clara Sereni, Madison, WIIn November 2009, Clara Sereni came to Madison and Chicago. Clara gave a talk about her writings: how food and cooking traverse the private and the public, encompassing Italian literature and Italian Cinema. Clara and Giovanna presented the English translation of her book, Keeping House: A Novel in Recipes.

Italian-American FlagCelebrate by learning more about what Italian-Americans have done for our country. Every year the U.S. president signs an executive order designating the month of October as National Italian American Heritage Month. Passed by the Assembly on September 22, 2009, State of Wisconsin 2009 ASSEMBLY RESOLUTION 10. Senator Peter Barca and Representative Joe Parisi (two of the authors of Italian descent) were very instrumental in passing this resolution.

The conference was successfully organized by NIAF and the Italian Embassy of Washington D.C. to bring together representatives from various Italian-American organizations, Italian language non–profit organizations (Enti Gestori, such as WisItalia), representatives of Italian departments, Italian teachers and professional associations, consular educational officers, etc.

Golf CharityOn Sunday, September 28, 2008, 55 intrepid golfers took to the links at Sun Prairie Golf Course to compete in the 2008 Italian Charity Golf Classic. Proceeds went to the Capital Candlelighters, a non-profit organization serving families whose children have been diagnosed with cancer.
