WisItalia Awards Grants to Local Schools/Programs

WisItalia, in conjunction with the Consul General of Italy and the Italian government, is able to give certain Wisconsin schools/programs that teach the Italian language, grant funds for their language programs. These funds can be used for a variety of materials and projects.

As of 6/2009, WisItalia distributed $18,850 to 14 Wisconsin schools/programs for the 2008-2009 school year, including the summer term.

Tony Bruno, WisItalia President and Frank Alfano, WisItalia Treasurer began distributing the checks to the schools on October 1, 2008.

St. Joseph, KenoshaPreble High School, Green Bay

St. Joseph's in Kenosha began a new Italian program this year in their high school and junior high school. Read the Newspaper Article and Thank You Letter (pdf) regarding these new Italian language programs in Kenosha.

At the October 18th WisItalia meeting, Preble High School in Green Bay received their check. This is the first year Italian has been taught in that high school, too.
