In March 2009, the Italian-American Club, Roma Lodge in Racine, made a $1,000 donation to WisItalia. Roma Lodge prides itself in giving to worthy causes within and around its community. Since WisItalia's mission statement is almost the same as the Roma Lodge mission statement, the Cares Committee recommended, and the Roma Lodge Board approved the donation. The donation will be awarded at the upcoming Teacher of the Year banquet on May 16, 2009. To learn more about Roma Lodge visit members.romalodge.com (exit WisItalia).

Frank Alfano and Tony Bruno receiving the $1,000 checkAn organization called the American Society of the Italian Legion of Merit (ASILM) awarded one of its fifty $1,000 mini grants to WisItalia in January 2009, for its promotion of the Italian language and culture in the Wisconsin school system. These mini grants focus attention on worthwhile endeavors, especially where children are involved. View a complete list of all 50 recipients (pdf) who received these mini grants.
