Le Novità - Milwaukee

Italian to be Offered at Marquette University High School

Marquette University High School logo, Milwaukee, WIMarquette University High School, located at 35th and Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee will be adding Italian language classes to their curriculum in the Fall 2010. In mid-March of this year, they will offer Italian as an after school class, two times per week for 6 weeks. Grazie mille to Tom Balistreri for his tremendous effort in this area.

Italian Immersion Vegetable Garden

Victory School students, Milwaukee, WI Victory School has a new Vegetable Garden project, coordinated by Steve Falsetti, Italian Immersion Teacher. Your help and support will ensure their success. The goal of this project is to revive the school's garden by creating a school-wide vegetable garden initiative. The goal is to inspire unity and create mentoring opportunities at their K-8 school by the creation of a vegetable garden. They hope to encourage healthy eating habits and grow produce that the students will cultivate, harvest and consume.

The resources requested for this project will help the students get a head start on vegetable production. They are requesting gardening tools, an indoor plant light, soil, pots and two Earthbox planters to get their project started.

Their goal is to have classrooms growing plants indoors this spring to get a jump on the short Wisconsin growing season. Many volunteers and organizations have stepped forward to provide them with seeds, seedlings and muscle.

Your donation will help provide their school with some of the basic materials to get their project started. View the DonorsChoose.org web page (exit WisItalia) for more information. DonorsChoose.org is an online charity connecting you to classrooms in need. This and all other projects at DonorsChoose.org have been submitted by public school teachers who seek resources that will help their students learn. Contributions are tax-deductible and donors hear back from the classroom they choose to support.
