Italy Trips Offered by WI Schools

University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Rome Program

Rome Program, ItalyThe University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Rome Program, located at The American University of Rome (AUR), is designed to provide students with an unique living and learning experience in "The Eternal City."

Students may participate for one semester, for a full academic year, or for the summer. Fall semester 2009: September 2 - December 19. Spring semester 2010: mid-January - mid-May. Summer semester 2010: May - June.

All study abroad students take 12 to 16 credits, including one course in Italian language, which is offered at all levels, from beginning through advanced. No previous knowledge of Italian is required, and the language of instruction is English or Italian depending on the student's proficiency. The university offers course work in Italian Language and Literature, Art History, Communications/Media Studies/Cinema, History, Political Science/International Relations, and International Business.

Special Note: Bob Marino, President of the AUR, indicated that the University has been granted regional accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. This accreditation recognizes the AUR's outstanding accomplishments in preparing study abroad and degree students from around the world to live and work across cultures.

Lodi High School Students go to Italy and Greece

Rome Fountain June 21 - July 1, 2010

Megan Dorsey, 10th-12th grade Counselor at Lodi High School, Wisconsin is taking a group of high school students to Italy and Greece. Prior to the trip, the students will be learning some basic Italian. They are traveling through a group called Explorica. Here is their itinerary:

Day 1: Start Tour.
Day 2: Ciao Rome! Meet your Tour Director and check into hotel. Rome City Walk, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona.
Day 3: Imperial Rome. Rome Ancient City - Guided Walking Sightseeing Tour with Whisper headsets, Colosseum visit, Forum Romanum visit, Piazza Venezia, Authentic Trattoria Dinner.
Day 4: Rome--Palermo. Vatican City Guided Walking Sightseeing Tour with Whisper headsets, Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel visit, St. Peter’s Basilica visit Overnight ferry from Rome to Palermo.
Day 5: Palermo--Agrigento. Palermo Guided Sightseeing Tour, Quattro Canti, Palermo Cathedral, Teatro Massimo, La Martorana, Monreale visit. Travel to Agrigento Agrigento Guided Sightseeing Tour, Valley of Temples.
Day 6: Agrigento--Taormina. Travel to Taormina, Piazza Armerina Visit, Siracusa Guided Sightseeing Tour, Visit Ortigia Peninsula, Hieron II's Altar, Roman Amphitheatre, Ear of Dionysius, Latomia Intagliatella, Greek Theatre, Latomia del Paradiso, Cordari Cave, Grotticelli Necropoli, Archaeological site visit.
Day 7: Taormina Landmarks. Taormina Guided Sightseeing Tour, Palazzo Corvaia, Botanical Gardens, Greek theater visit.
Day 8: Taormina--Patras. Travel to Bari via Sibari, Overnight ferry to Patras.
Day 9: Patras--Athens. Travel to Athens via Delphi, Delphi Guided Sightseeing Tour, Delphi site visit, Temple of Apollo.
Day 10: Athens Landmarks. Athens Guided Sightseeing Tour, Parthenon, Acropolis visit, Temple of Athena Nike, Omonia Square, Syntagma Square, Olympic site Acropolis Museum visit, Athens City Walk, Plaka district, Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, Greek dinner in Plaka.

Italy and Greece Tour Available to High Schools Students

Bill Hasley and Ginna Perrelle, teachers at Indian Trail Academy in Kenosha, are organizing a trip to Italy and Greece for high school age students. The trip is operated by Educational Tours, which specializes in international travel for teachers and students. The 10-day tour dates are June 24 - July 3, 2010, leaving from Chicago and traveling to Rome, Capri, Sorrento, Pompeii, and Brindisi in Italy, then on to Patras, Delphi, and Athens, Greece.

Cost as of October 1, 2009, is approximately $3,200, which includes airfare, transportation, accommodations, and European meal plan. A three-day optional add-on cruise is also available.

Signor Annina's Best of Italy Tour

Gelato in Italy March 12 - 20, 2011

Experience Italy with trip leader, Ralph Annina, as he takes you to Florence, Pisa, Venice, Verona, Assisi, Roma, Orvieto.

Ralph Annina, Italian language teacher at Bradford High School in Kenosha, announces a trip to Italy for high school age students and interested adults.

The trip is operated by Explorica, Inc., which specializes in connecting teachers and students to new cultures, languages and people on educational tours across the globe.

The 9-day tour dates are March 12 - March 20, 2011, leaving from Chicago and traveling to Florence, Venice, Assisi, and Rome. Italian lessons are included before departure.

Cost is $2,374 for students, $2,643 for adults, which includes airfare, transportation, accommodations, and European meal plan.
