DUE by Eric Magnussen: A Unique & Beautiful Collection of Images of Tuscany
Most
everyone understands how easy it is to find arresting imagery in Italy - not
just in classic art and historic architecture but also any day of the week in
almost any piazza, garden, church or corner café.
Eric
Magnussen, who brought his camera and his artist's eye on our fall 2009 trip,
has just published a "coffee-table" style hardcover book of
photography that captures much of the essential beauty of Italy. He discovered
all of his subjects during two weeks of travels through Tuscany with our small
group.
The
book, "Due," is no simple travelogue, and you won't find any smiling
travelers among these images. Instead, you'll linger over Eric's unique
perspectives of, well, just about everywhere - from rooftop to piazza, castle
to café counter. Many scenes will be recognized by our travelers - but even if
you were there, you can't help but be surprised and captivated by his unique
compositions. Even a tiny parking lot becomes a playground of light and shadow
through the lens of this talented photographer.
Eric's
photos, developed the old-fashioned way using film, include black-and-white as
well as color images. See for yourself on blurb.com. CLICK HERE to page through a
preview of the book.
Just Released! Mamma Agata's Cookbook
Learn the culinary secrets of Mamma Agata, in a new beautiful
cookbook that not only includes recipes from Agata's Ravello cooking
school, but also chronicles Agata's fascinating life cooking for
American celebrities such as Humphrey Bogart, Jaqueline Kennedy,
Elizabeth Taylor and Frank Sinatra.
For those of you who travelled to Amalfi and Ravello with Viaggi di
Gusto in 2006, the book will transport you back to Mamma Agata's
kitchen and remind you of the magical moments we spent with Mamma and
her family.
If you're interested in a cooking class with Mamma Agata, don't miss this year's tour to Amalfi!
